Magnuson
and Bieschke win awards for this year's 25th Anniversary Classic in
2001
Pictured left is Classic President Beth Kebl presenting the 1st
place prize award to Joey Magnuson for his entry in the drawing
contest for this year's Musky Classic patch. Joey was a graduating
8th grader from North Lakeland Elementary School this year. There
were over 30 entries this year and Magnuson's drawing was selected
as the best of the entries. He received a $100 savings bond.
The bond is matched by Headwaters
State Bank of Land O'Lakes and Presque Isle. The Classic put up
$50.00 and the bank matched the organization's part of the prize.
In
an unusual move by the Classic board, they decided that they should
try something new this year and spice up the buttons that are given
to all the fishermen. So from the artwork submitted, the board chose
toward $25.00 to Matt Bieschke for his worm and bobber artwork.
This contest wouldn't have been
possible without the co-operation of the Art Dept. and Ann Jensen at
North Lakeland. Mrs. Jensen has now made this contest part of her
curriculum and it gives the students a chance to participate in the
classic and at the same time compete for cash awards.
The WCMC would like to thank Mrs.
Jensen for all her help and cooperation in making this a great
project. If you don't have a chance to see the patch, a copy of it
appears here. Thanks again to everyone for helping to make this
contest work.
