2003 Scholarships

Meagan Mecklenburg

Meagan lives in Winchester, Wisconsin and will be attending UW River Falls majoring in History and Secondary Education.

Meagan is the granddaughter of Lawrence and Pat Stomp and makes her home with them.

Meagan would like to teach high school history.  She would like to be a role model to her students. She stated, “I’m gonna be one of those teachers no one forgets because they made an impact on you.” 

During her high school years she was involved in several community service activities through school groups and classes. She worked on the Santa Workshop helping children pick out and buy gifts for their families at reduced prices from local shops.  She participated in a health fair for local children hosted by Club S.O.D.A. (Students Opposed to Drugs and Alcohol).  Through Key Club she participated in the Food for Friends where she helped prepare and deliver meals to people who would not otherwise have gotten a Thanksgiving dinner. She is currently participating in the Big Brother and Big Sister program through National Honors Society.  She is a Big Sister to a kindergarten boy.

Outside interests for Meagan are: reading, writing short stories, drawing and playing her clarinet.  She is also a Classic Movie buff.

We are sure that Meagan will succeed in her college career and in life.  Good luck Meagan!

Katarzyna is from Boulder Junction, Wisconsin and will be attending Carroll College majoring in Marketing.

While in high school Katarzyna was involved in tutoring students, writing Santa letters for grade schoolers, and in the Big Brother/Big Sister Program.  She helped in the organization of a Halloween Costume Contest for D.E.C.A. and participated in a Bowl-A-Thon to benefit SADD.  She has raked leaves,  shoveled snowand volunteered at her church.

Her outside interests include downhill and cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, spending time on the lake, listening to music and having fun with her friends.

She is the second one in her family to receive a WCMC Scholarship. Her older sister Monica graduated this spring.

She stated, “College is the next step in my life and I would love to have the opportunity to go to the college of my choice.  Throughout my years of school, I’ve worked hard to earn good grades and finally being rewarded for my efforts is great.  My goal in life is to succeed in the business field and become a well-respected business women.  I also want to help my family after I am done with school.  My parents have supported me in everything I do, especially going on to college, so I would love the opportunity to pay them back for all the they have done.”

We are sure that she will do that, and even more.
