Heather Benke
Heather will be attending Black
Hawk College and will double major in Equestrian Science and Horse
Technology. After completing her education she wants to
train, show and board horses. She enjoys working with the
local pony clubbers and the Riders In Motion special ed mentor
group. She believes that working with kids and horses
prepares them for their future years. Heather is determined
and set on her goals.
In High School Heather found
herself volunteering in the communities around her. She was
a member of the Intercultural Leadership Initiative, a girl scout,
taught riding lessons for kids at Sunshine Equestrian Acres in
Winchester. She collected tabs for the Ronald McDonald
House, volunteered at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Manitowish
Waters, an active volunteer at WCMC raffle table and found time to
maintain a job.
Heather is one of those students,
that does it because she wants too, not for awards or
recognition. The love that she shares by helping kids and
students is so great. Heather is a young lady who enjoys
every bit of life to the fullest.
It is such an honor that the WCMC
awarded Heather this scholarship. She has the
potential and determination that epitomizes this award.
Congratulations to all three of
our recipients and may their future be bright and successful.
